Gentle, Thoughtful Tongue-Tie Care for Infants and Families
At Central Valley Tongue Tie, Dr. Jodi Sceville provides conservative evaluations, clear guidance, and personalized care for tongue tie and tethered oral tissues.
ABOUT US
Dr. Jodi Sceville is a dentist, mother, and advocate for infants and families navigating feeding challenges, airway concerns, and tethered oral tissues. Central Valley Tongue Tie was created from both personal experience and professional conviction after witnessing firsthand the frustration many parents feel when their concerns fall into the gaps of a fragmented medical and dental system.
As a mother, Dr. Sceville understands how overwhelming it can be to know something isn’t quite right with your baby, yet struggle to find clear answers or coordinated care. As a dentist with advanced training in airway, growth and development, and sleep-disordered breathing, she recognized that tongue ties and oral function are often misunderstood, underdiagnosed, or addressed without adequate support for families.

What sets Dr. Sceville’s approach apart is her commitment to collaboration and whole-body care. She works closely with trusted professionals across multiple disciplines, including chiropractors, craniosacral and fascial therapists, occupational and physical therapists, and lactation consultants, to better understand the unique needs of each baby. This team-based approach ensures that families are supported not only through the procedure itself, but throughout the entire feeding and developmental journey.
Dr. Sceville performs frenectomies using the LightScalpel® CO₂ laser, an advanced technology that allows for precise treatment, minimal discomfort, reduced bleeding, and faster healing. Every family receives thorough education, thoughtful guidance, and options never pressure so parents can make informed decisions with confidence and peace of mind.

WHAT TO EXPECT
We know that a “frenectomy” sounds scary, but hopefully after reading Dr. Sceville’s guide you’ll feel prepared, educated, and calm before your child’s procedure.
Before your appointment, we will ask you to fill out a thorough questionnaire. This gives you the chance to share what brought you in, how feedings are going, your baby’s medical history, and any symptoms you have noticed. Dr. Sceville will also communicate with your other providers so they can share their evaluations.
If Dr. Sceville recommends performing the tongue-tie procedure on the same day, your baby will find it soothing to feed right after. We provide breastfeeding pillows, regular pillows for back support, and a breastfeeding stool to help you stay comfortable.
What to Expect
Many times, the tongue-tie procedure can be performed the same day as the consultation. A member of our team will bring you to a consultation room where you will meet with Dr. Sceville and review everything together.
When you are ready to begin, your baby is gently swaddled and a safe numbing gel is applied to the floor of the mouth. Safety goggles are placed on your baby’s eyes, and parents wait comfortably in the consultation room while Dr. Sceville performs the lip and or tongue tie release using her CO₂ laser. The procedure itself lasts only a few seconds.
After the frenectomy is complete, your baby is brought right back to you. You will feed your baby and review next steps with Dr. Sceville, including wound care for the first two weeks. Dr. Sceville will text you after the procedure so you have her direct number for questions during healing.
Our team will send an update to your collaborative providers, including lactation consultants, midwives, pediatricians, and therapists. This includes a clinical report of findings and photos so your full care team stays informed.
At your consultation, Dr. Sceville will take a close look at your child’s oral anatomy and health, checking for any tongue, lip, or cheek ties that may be causing restriction. Her assessment methods are conservative, and she will only prescribe a frenectomy when needed.
The consultation is an opportunity to ask questions and speak openly about your concerns. If you are ready to move forward and no additional pre-frenectomy therapy is recommended, the procedure may be performed the same day if the schedule allows.
We know the last thing you want with a newborn at home is uncertainty around cost. Our pricing is clear and includes all care related to your child’s procedure and follow-up.
